Packaging – The Pelican Barrier cream comes in a 50g tube, the design is uncomplicated with its purple and white exterior and clear to read the simple instructions for use. One thing I did like about the product is that it doesn’t look & feel medical it just blends in with the other products you may have in your bathroom. The design of the product is great because it is easy to take off the lid and make sure you don’t over squeeze and apply to much pressure to get it out otherwise it will go everywhere!
Ease of use – When I used the product you just need a pea size amount on clean and dry skin, when I applied the cream itself I found that it absorbed really well, I took off any excess with a tissue so my skin was dry and prepped ready for my ostomy bag. I found that the Pelican barrier cream gave me a great surface to apply my Ring/Ostomy bag as it dries well however left my skin feeling moisturised. During the period of wearing this product over 48 hours my skin didn’t feel irritated, or even have an burning, stinging or discomfort and once I removed my pouch it came off effortlessly. The other benefit to the cream is it doesn’t have an overpowering smell its smells very clean and like a regular moisturiser.
Tips: The best tip for me was not to overuse the product as less is more with this, and even if your skin is very sore don’t get tempted to stick loads on it won’t benefit you in anyway and will make it harder to apply your other products.
Protection – I wore this product for two days on more than one occasion and my skin felt protected and didn’t suffer from any skin irritation.
Drying or Sticking Time – The drying isn’t the quickest, but the trick here is not to use too much cream in the first place. However once its dried its a great base to apply your other products.
