Manufacturers Description

A unique formulation with Raspberry Seed Oil and Sunflower Oil; designed to create an effective barrier on the skin to stop the effects of corrosive body waste materials whilst minimising epidermal water loss. Astoa Barrier Cream will help to maintain skin integrity, prevent skin irritation and protect chafed, red, irritated skin by providing a long lasting barrier on the skin. Astoa Barrier Cream completely absorbs into the skin so it will not affect the adhesion of the stoma flange/baseplate. Available in a 100g Tube.

Packaging –

Astoa barrier cream by OstoMART comes in a 100ml tube which looks like you have made a nice purchase from Boots and not an ostomy product which I loved! The tube of Astoa barrier cream is very minimal with its branding which makes it more subtle. Easy to open with its flip lid while not sacrificing safety so you can be sure to carry on the move or away if need be.

Ease of use –

OstoMART Astoa barrier cream is a breeze to use I simply applied a little product onto my finger about half a pea size and you really don’t need much Astoa barrier cream to get a good coverage and protection for your skin. I simply rubbed Astoa barrier cream around the skin of my stoma and it seemed to absorb quickly into the skin if you do have excess product I just used a tissue to wipe it off. Once I was ready to apply my seals, rings and had a soft and dry surface to do so with ease. During the time I was using Astoa barrier cream I had no issue with itching burning or other skin irritations and once I removed my bag 48hrs later my skin was showing no signs of redness and soreness even where small amounts of output had been.

Pros –

Completely absorbs into the skin as long as you don’t use too much however if there is excess just use a dry wipe to remove.

Cons – I didn’t come across any negatives myself

My thoughts

This would be a great option for anyone looking to use a cream rather than a wipe or spray barrier and it offers excellent protection on your skin.
